The Dak Sewa mobile application, developed by the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology, serves as a citizen-centric platform provided by the Department of Posts. The application aims to streamline various postal services through a user-friendly interface and integrated features.

The app offers several key functionalities:

• Mail tracking
• Post office locator
• Postage fee calculator
• Complaints management
• Insurance premium calculator
• Interest rate calculator

Below is a detailed overview of each facility:

Tracking:
The tracking feature supports a comprehensive range of mail items including Speed Post, Registered Letters, Insured Letters, Value Payable Letters, Registered Packets, Periodicals, Parcels, Business Parcels, Cash on Delivery (COD) parcels, and Electronic Money Orders (e-MO). Users can easily verify the status of their articles by entering the respective article number and pressing the 'Track' button.

Post Office Search:
Users can search for post offices by inputting the first four characters of the office name or by entering the postal PIN code. Results display a list of matching post offices; selecting an entry reveals detailed information such as the office's name, street address, contact details (where available), division name, and other relevant information. Additional features include locating the nearest post office, viewing its location on Google Maps, and initiating a direct call to the office.

Postage Calculator:
The application calculates applicable postage costs based on user-inputted weight for various items including Ordinary Letters, Speed Post (domestic), Registered Letters, Ordinary Parcels, Registered Parcels, Book Packets (containing printed books or other materials), and more. For Speed Post services within India, tariffs are determined based on the distance between the origin and destination points—categorized into five slabs: local, up to 200 km, 201-1000 km, 1001-2000 km, and above 2000 km. The calculator displays tariffs across all relevant categories.

Complaints Management:
The app enables users to register complaints, monitor their status, and receive alerts at various stages of processing to ensure transparency and responsiveness.

Insurance Premium Calculator:
This feature provides users with the ability to estimate premium payments for various Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance policies offered by the department. Inputting relevant details allows for accurate premium computation across different policy types.

Interest Calculator:
The application supports calculation for interest accrued on several small savings schemes including Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Recurring Deposits, Time Deposits (1-year, 2-year, 3-year, 5-year), Monthly Income Scheme, Senior Citizens Savings Scheme, National Savings Certificates, Kisan Vikas Patra, and Monthly Saving Schemes (MSSC).
